I joined the Fernwood NRG’s Studio 1313 team in 2022, and in August 2024 I became the salon’s owner and operator. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to creating a new era for the salon, one where every client’s hair goals are supported through a combination of individualized care focused on hair health and maintenance, as well as personal style and adaptability.

  With over a decade of experience behind the chair, I love blending artistry with day-to-day life; whether I’m revisiting my specialties in long textured cuts and grey blending colour or sharing the skills I’ve honed in short haircuts and styling. My goal is always to create styles that highlight each client’s best features while respecting their personal preferences and daily routines, so they leave the salon not only feeling confident but also able to recreate those salon-perfect results at home.

  In my personal time I love reading and studying different areas of interest, relaxing on the beach, or going for hikes with my dogs Milo & Otis.

Hello, I’m Sam! I’m a VIU Cosmetology alumna and have been working
as a hairstylist and
barber since 2014.

Before focusing on barbering full time,
I spent four years specializing in long, textured cuts and grey-blending colour techniques while managing my family’s small salon in Sidney, which was proud to win three Reader’s Choice awards.

Whether you’re looking for something soft and low maintenance or something edgy and eye-catching, I love collaborating with clients to create hair that feels authentic to them.

  My goal behind the chair is to create a welcoming, comfortable space where you feel heard, relaxed, and confident. I focus on thoughtful, personalized services with attention to detail to make sure every client leaves feeling inspired and like the best version of themselves.
  Outside of the salon, you can usually find me hanging out at the beach, riding my bike, or spending time with family and friends.

  I’m always continuing to grow and evolve creatively within the industry, and I can’t wait to meet you and have you in my chair ✨
